Theman Wafarninyi (press: Wafarninyi Theman Dalatu) is the Young Progressives Party (YPP) governorship candidate in Adamawa State for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026), with Abba Ahmed Sudi as his running mate. INEC lists him as a 55-year-old man with a First School Leaving Certificate, WAEC and a Bachelor of Pharmacy; the press calls him a pharmacist. He represented Hong constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015 (reported as Minority Leader by The Nation in 2022, and in July 2014 as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, presenting evidence for the Assembly against Governor Nyako). On 20 May 2014 he was one of three APC members who announced their move to the PDP at plenary. He was later the APC's Adamawa State Secretary (reported as 2019 to 2023) and sought the party's 2023 governorship ticket, scoring 21 of 975 valid votes at the APC primary in Yola on 27 May 2022, won by Aishatu Ahmad Binani. He says he resigned from the APC on 12 June 2023. The SDP announced him as its North East National Vice Chairman in September 2023, and in January 2026 he spoke for the SDP and hinted at a governorship bid. On 29 May 2026 the YPP affirmed him as its sole governorship aspirant in Yola by a physical count of accredited members.

Reported as 2019-2023 (Daily Post, Leadership, May 2026); an SDP statement says he was elected in 2018, and The Nation (21 May 2022) already called him the 'immediate past' secretary, so the end year is not settled and none is stored. He says he resigned from the APC on 2023-06-12.
