INEC lists him as a 50-year-old man whose declared qualifications are the First School Leaving Certificate, the Senior School Certificate and a BSc. He is a professor at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, where reports in November 2024 named him head of the Department of Crop Production and the university celebrated him as the first specialist in post-harvest physiology and storage technology in Northern Nigeria. Tribune reports that his first degree, master's degree and PhD all came from the Federal University of Technology Yola, now Modibbo Adama University (INEC's list shows only the BSc). He was the sole aspirant at the DLA's Adamawa governorship primary, reported on 29 May 2026, when delegates from the 226 wards unanimously adopted him. On 16 October 2026 he was among DLA governorship candidates who endorsed President Tinubu for the presidency while saying they would stay in the DLA for the governorship and assembly races.
