A nurse and teacher before politics, she was elected to the Plateau State House of Assembly in 1999, served as Special Adviser to the Governor of Plateau State from 2008 to 2011, and was chairperson of Riyom Local Government Area from 2014 until the state's councils were dissolved on 6 July 2015 (Daily Post, LEADERSHIP, Premium Times). Mutfwang presented her as his running mate on 21 June 2022; a group of PDP stakeholders petitioned the party's national chairman against the choice (Daily Trust, 6 July 2022), but she stayed on the ticket, which was declared winner of the 18 March 2023 election with 525,299 votes against 481,370 for the APC. She was sworn in on 29 May 2023, and her election survived the petition that ended at the Supreme Court on 12 January 2024. She resigned from the PDP by a letter dated 30 December 2025 (The Nation, 5 January 2026) and has since appeared with the governor in the APC. She was listed as his APC running mate for 2027 on INEC's final list.
