Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang (INEC: Mutfwang Caleb Manasseh) is the Governor of Plateau State, in office since 29 May 2023, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, with Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo as running mate, for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026). A lawyer, born on 12 March 1965, he studied law at the University of Jos and was called to the Nigerian Bar on 14 December 1989; Vanguard's biography has him in practice in Kaduna from 1990 and running his own firm from 1996, and he was elected chairman of Mangu Local Government Area in the 25 February 2014 council elections, serving until Governor Simon Lalong dissolved the councils on 6 July 2015. He won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary on 25 May 2022 with 252 votes and chose Josephine Piyo as running mate. The ticket was declared winner of the 18 March 2023 election with 525,299 votes against 481,370 for the APC's Nentawe Yilwatda. The tribunal upheld the result on 22 September 2023; the Court of Appeal in Abuja nullified it on 19 November 2023, holding that he was not validly sponsored by the PDP; and on 12 January 2024 the Supreme Court set that judgment aside and affirmed his election. On 29 December 2025 he resigned from the PDP by letter, after the APC's national chairman had announced on 18 December that he had joined; he received his APC membership card on 2 January 2026 and was received at a ceremony in Jos on 27 January. He won the APC primary on 21 May 2026 with 233,335 votes against 3,070 for retired Commodore Yilchini Jan Bida, who rejected the result and asked the party to investigate (Daily Post, 23 May 2026).

The APC and its candidate Nentawe Yilwatda challenged the 18 March 2023 result. The Plateau Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Jos dismissed the petition on 22 September 2023, holding that nomination and sponsorship of a candidate is a pre-election matter.
