Monday John Onyeme (born 30 March 1965 at Ibabu, Onicha-Ukwuani, Ndokwa West) is the Deputy Governor of Delta State, in office since 29 May 2023, and the All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate and running mate to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026). He is known as Sir Monday Onyeme, a Knight of Saint Christopher in the Anglican Church, and holds the title Odoziani I of Ibabu Kingdom. A chartered accountant (qualified 1993), he took a BSc in accounting at the University of Calabar (1990) after a National Diploma at Federal Polytechnic, Kaura-Namoda, where he later taught (1991-92). He worked in audit at NEPA and Commercial Trust Bank, was chief accountant of a Lagos firm, and headed finance and supplies at the National Agriculture Land Development Authority, Asaba (1996-2000); he was chief accountant and then bursar of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, and from September 2006 bursar of the National Open University of Nigeria. He was District Governor of Lions Clubs District 404A1 (2018-19) and founded the Odoziani Support Group in 2016. Governor Ifeanyi Okowa appointed him Executive Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue on 30 September 2015, and he was reappointed in 2019. The Delta PDP named him running mate to Sheriff Oborevwori on 22-23 June 2022; the ticket won the governorship election of 18 March 2023 with 360,234 votes, both men were sworn in on 29 May 2023, and the petitions against the result were dismissed up to the Supreme Court on 19 January 2024. He moved from the PDP to the APC with the Governor on 23 April 2025. He is married with five children.
