Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori (born 19 June 1963) is the Governor of Delta State, in office since 29 May 2023, and the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026), with Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme as running mate. He was the only aspirant in the APC direct primary of 21 May 2026 and was returned with 345,375 votes. He was elected on the PDP and moved to the APC on 23 April 2025, with his deputy. He began as a councillor in the old Okpe local government area (1996), then served Governors James Ibori (special assistant on youth development, 2003-06) and Emmanuel Uduaghan (special adviser on land security, 2007-10; senior special assistant on security, 2012-14). In 2015 he won the Okpe seat in the Delta State House of Assembly for the PDP; on 11 May 2017 members impeached Speaker Monday Igbuya and elected him Speaker, and he was re-elected when the next Assembly was inaugurated on 10 June 2019, holding the chair until he was sworn in as Governor. From November 2020 he was Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria. He studied political science at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and Delta State University, Abraka. He won the PDP governorship primary on 25 May 2022 with 590 of 821 valid votes, with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's backing, ahead of David Edevbie (113). Petitioners alleged that his certificates carried differently ordered names and that he gave false information; the Federal High Court, Abuja, voided his nomination on 7 July 2022 in Edevbie's suit, the Court of Appeal restored it on 29 August 2022 and the Supreme Court confirmed it on 21 October 2022, and a second suit by Ikie Aghwarianovwe was dismissed up to the Supreme Court on 7 July 2023. No court found a certificate forged. Running with Monday Onyeme, he won the governorship election of 18 March 2023 with 360,234 votes against 240,229 for Ovie Omo-Agege (APC); petitions by Omo-Agege, Kenneth Gbagi (SDP) and Ken Pela (Labour Party) were dismissed by the tribunal (29 September 2023), the Court of Appeal (24 November 2023) and the Supreme Court (19 January 2024). His honours include the Christian Icon Award of the Christian Association of Nigeria (17 October 2026) and two Independent Newspapers governor awards for 2025. He is married to Tobore Oborevwori, the state's First Lady.
