Musa Shehu Aliyu (INEC: MUSA SHEHU ALIYU; reported in the press as Hon. Shehu Aliyu Musa, and styled the Barden Gabas of Bauchi) is the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) candidate for Bauchi South Senatorial District in the Senate election of 16 January 2027 (INEC final list, 12 September 2026). INEC lists him as 56, with a First School Leaving Certificate, SSCE and a B.Sc in Geography. A long-time All Progressives Congress (APC) politician, he is a former member of the House of Representatives: in March 2017 the House named "Shehu Aliyu-Musa (APC, Bauchi)" to its delegation to South Africa over xenophobic attacks. In 2022 he held the APC ticket for Bauchi Federal Constituency but withdrew after being nominated running mate to the party's governorship candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar (retd), as reported on 13 July 2022. Their ticket lost the governorship election of 18 March 2023: INEC declared Governor Bala Mohammed (PDP) the winner on 20 March 2023 with 525,280 votes to 432,272 for the APC (Daily Trust printed 433,272), and Abubakar rejected the result. He sought the APC ticket for Bauchi South in 2026. In the direct primary announced on 18 May 2026 he came third with 6,648 votes (Leadership: 6,448), behind Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi (25,762) and Brig.-Gen. Abubakar Suleiman Maikano (retd) (6,870); another aspirant, Abdulmumini Kundak, said no valid primary had been held. His resignation from the APC was reported on 25 May 2026; he cited "lack of purposeful leadership, unfair treatment of party members and lack of cohesion among leaders of the party". By 16 June 2026 he was the PRP's Senate candidate for Bauchi South, campaigning alongside the party's governorship candidate, Senator Shehu Buba Umar. The date and result of the PRP primary were not found.
