Ibrahim Mohammed Baba, popularly known as IMBA, is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Bauchi North Senatorial District in the Senate election of 16 January 2027 (INEC final list, 12 September 2026, where he appears as Baba Ibrahim Mohammed). INEC lists him as a 50-year-old man whose declared qualifications are the First School Leaving Certificate and the Senior School Certificate. He is from Azare in Katagum Local Government Area. Before elective politics he was a personal assistant and later special assistant on telecommunications to a former Bauchi State governor, and an aide to the North East commissioner on the NDDC board; a biography site also says he worked as a finance officer at NITEL.
Elected on the APC platform on 28 March 2015 (38,151 votes to 23,535 for Auwalu Gwalabe of the PDP), he represented Katagum Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019 (8th Assembly) and was deputy chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts. He won APC renomination but lost the 23 February 2019 election to Umar Abdulkadir Sarki of the PRP (23,680 to 18,976). An election tribunal nullified Sarki's return on his petition on 29 August 2019, but the Court of Appeal in Jos set that judgment aside and upheld Sarki's election (reported 14 October 2019). In July 2019 Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila appointed him Special Assistant on Executive Relations.
In May 2022 he narrowly lost the APC Bauchi North senatorial primary to Sirajo Ibrahim Tanko (189 to 177 delegate votes). He then moved to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was its Bauchi North candidate in the Senate election of 25 February 2023, which Samaila Dahuwa Kaila of the PDP won, and rejoined the APC in Azare on 13 May 2023. In August 2024 the National Assembly leadership named him a federal commissioner (Bauchi) of the Public Complaints Commission.
In the APC direct primary held on 18 May 2026 he was declared winner of the Bauchi North ticket with 22,744 votes, defeating the incumbent senator Samaila Dahuwa Kaila (12,912) and Sirajo Ibrahim Tanko (5,202); Kaila disputed that a genuine primary took place and moved to the PRP.
