Ehiemere Augustine Chinonye is the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) deputy governorship candidate in Abia State, running mate to Ijioma Uchechukwu Charles, for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026). INEC lists him as a 66-year-old man whose declared qualifications are the First School Leaving Certificate, the WAEC school certificate and the Nigeria Certificate in Education. Press reports about an APGA official in Abia, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, appear to concern the same man, but no report tying that official to this candidacy or to the middle name Chinonye was found: the link rests on name, party and state, so the record below is stored with medium confidence. On that reading he was APGA's Abia State chairman for most of the period from at least November 2016 to May 2023, a tenure disputed inside the party. In September 2018 an Umuahia High Court set aside the state executive in favour of a rival chairman, Prince Nnanna Ukaegbu, an order Ehiemere dismissed; that November he was elected chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Abia, a post held until a successor was elected in January 2021. A congress run by the Victor Oye-led national leadership returned him as chairman on 23 May 2019, but in June 2019 a faction loyal to the party's 2019 governorship candidate, Alex Otti, elected Nkem Okoro in his place. On 7 April 2022 the Court of Appeal in Owerri declared Ukaegbu the authentic chairman. He continued to act as state chairman: he unveiled Greg Ibe's governorship campaign council in November 2022 and signed the party's rejection of the March 2023 governorship result. A state congress on 23 May 2023 elected Sunday Onukwubiri to succeed him. By July 2025 the same name appears as APGA's National Vice Chairman (South East). In that role he moved the national working committee's July 2025 resolution to court Governors Alex Otti and Peter Mbah, publicly urged Otti to return to APGA, confirmed Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe's suspension from the party in September 2025 and, in January 2026, said APGA would take over Abia and the South East in 2027. How and when he was named running mate was not found in public sources as of October 2026.
