INEC lists him as a 57-year-old man whose declared qualifications are a primary school leaving certificate, the SSCE and a Ph.D. The ADC national secretariat named him on its list of 4 September 2026. He is not the running mate Nakudu himself chose in July 2026 (Aminu Ibrahim Ringim); Nakudu's side described the change as a substitution by party headquarters, and the dispute was reported unresolved in October 2026. No earlier public office or career has been found.

INEC final list of candidates (Governorship, Jigawa State), published 2026-10-10 — SN 2; INEC name: MUSA YA'U BALARABE; age 57; male; qualification (as declared to INEC): PRIMARY LEAVING CERTIFICATE SSCE Ph.D; governorship candidate: Sabo Mohammed Nakudu · Named as ADC deputy governorship candidate in the ADC national secretariat's list of 4 Sep 2026 (Leadership, Daily Trust, Blueprint); Premium Times' version of that list (5 Sep 2026) mislabels the state as Bauchi. He is not the running mate Sabo Mohammed Nakudu chose himself: Nakudu named Aminu Ibrahim Ringim on 5-6 Jul 2026 (Daily Trust and Daily Post, 8 Jul 2026). INEC's final list of 10 Oct 2026 carries Musa Ya'u Balarabe; Nakudu's side calls this a substitution by party headquarters, reason unconfirmed, and the dispute was reported unresolved on 13 Oct 2026 (Premium Times). Press names the person on INEC's list variously: 'Balarabe Kaugama' (Premium Times, 15 Sep 2026) and 'Nasiru Kaugama' (13 Oct 2026); INEC's list is followed here. On 23 Sep 2026 the two ADC factions agreed to recognise the list already submitted to INEC (Daily Post). How and when he was approached, and his earlier career, were not found in public sources as of 2026-10-19.

This profile text has not yet been broken down into individually reviewed qualifications.
A useful profile shows the limits of its evidence as clearly as the evidence itself.
No held-office record is linked. Career text or election participation does not replace a documented term.
No publishable record is linked here. This is a coverage gap, not a clean bill of health.
No sourced disclosure record is available here. No personal wealth figure can be inferred.
This profile does not yet link expenditure or completed projects to documented responsibility. Approval alone does not establish delivery.
A reviewed source may establish that an allegation was made; it does not establish guilt. Open each record’s sources to read its evidence. Historical reporting may not establish a case’s current status.
