INEC presented certificates of return to the governor-elect and deputy in Gusau, and both were sworn in on 29 May 2023. The result was challenged and upheld by the Supreme Court on 12 January 2024. On 9 March 2026 he announced the Zamfara government's move from the PDP to the APC on the governor's behalf, and chaired the committee that organised Lawal's formal reception into the APC on 24 March 2026. In July 2026 Lawal retained him as running mate. INEC's lists give his age as 61 in 2023 and 65 in 2026 and his training as a Grade II teachers' certificate (Maru Teachers College); his earlier career and date of birth were not found in reliable sources.

INEC final list of candidates (Governorship, Zamfara State), published 2026-10-10 — SN 4; INEC name: MUMMUNI MALAM MANI; age 65; male; qualification (as declared to INEC): MASAMAR MUDI MPC (PLC) MARU TEACHERS COLLAGE; governorship candidate: Lawal Dauda · Named as running mate: the sitting deputy governor, retained by Governor Dauda Lawal as his 2027 running mate on or before 23 July 2026, when Lawal presented him with a letter at Government House, Gusau (Daily Post, 23 July 2026). He was Lawal's PDP running mate in 2023, and announced the governor's move from the PDP to the APC on 9 March 2026. The Zamfara APC primary of 21 May 2026 chose the governor by consensus; no rival claim was found. INEC reading note: the first words of this person's qualification cell, MASAMAR MUDI, resemble "Masama Mudi" in press renderings of his full name (Leadership, 8 August 2026: "Mani Malam Mumuni Masama Mudi"; ThisDay, 29 May 2023: "Mallam Mani Mumuni Mudi"), so they may be part of his name or a place or school name rather than a qualification. The layout check (pdftotext -bbox) puts them inside the qualification column, so no column-split error was found; the name is unchanged. INEC's 2023 entry for him lists FSLC, Grade II Teachers Certificate, NCE (age 61). Spellings seen: Mummuni, Mumuni, Mani Malam / Mallam.
Grade II Teachers' Certificate
Whether the qualification was completed is not recorded.
