Emmanuel Chibuzor Nwachukwu (born 1 February 1963), known as Emma Nwachukwu and by the Ukpor chieftaincy title Ọnọdụgo, is the senator for Anambra South and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the district in the Senate election of 16 January 2027 (INEC final list, 12 September 2026). From Umuhu, Ukpor, in Nnewi South LGA, he is an accountant: he declared Housing Estate Primary School, National Grammar School, Nike, and a BSc from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (accounting, 1987), and has attended management programmes at Lagos Business School and IESE Business School, Barcelona. His career has been in banking and investment. A profile published on his 59th birthday says he held senior roles at CGI Limited and UBA, was on the team that restructured New Nigeria Bank around 2000, and in 2004 helped set up Berkeley Group Plc, a private-equity firm. In February 2007 he and Berkeley Group were the owners of Ascot Offshore Nigeria Limited, which bought Willbros Group's Nigerian business (SEC-filed share purchase agreement); he was its executive vice president and CFO until April 2012. The National Assembly lists him as Managing Director of Berkeley Group from 2014 to December 2025. He was President-General of the Ukpor Improvement Union from about 2017 until December 2020. An APGA leader in Ukpor by 2022, he lost the party's Anambra South senatorial primary on 1 June 2022 by 113 votes to Chris Azubogu's 116. After Senator Ifeanyi Ubah died in July 2024, APGA delegates affirmed him by voice vote as its consensus candidate for the by-election on 21 July 2025; some party members protested that other aspirants were made to step down. He won the by-election of 16 August 2025 with 90,408 votes to 19,847 for Azuka Okwuosa of the APC, and was sworn in on 8 October 2025. Five petitions were filed against his return (ADC and its candidate Donald Amamgbo, APC, SDP and APM, the last withdrawn); by April 2026 the litigation was reported over, with the seat retained. In the Senate he moved a motion on 28 January 2026 on the collapsed Okija Spur-Ukpor-Ezinifite road bridge, and on 17 February 2026 was one of 15 senators who voted against keeping manual collation as a fallback in the Electoral Bill. He won APGA's primary for 2027 on 23 May 2026 with 27,389 votes, ahead of Patrick Ubajiaka (5,279) and Akai Egwuowu (1,757).
