David Ogba Onuoha, widely known as Bourdex, is the Labour Party (LP) candidate for Abia North in the Senate election of 16 January 2027 (INEC final list, 12 September 2026, as ONUOHA BOURDEX DAVID OGBA). From Abiriba in Ohafia LGA, he is a businessman who founded Bourdex Telecommunications Ltd, an early indigenous private telephone operator in the South-East and South-South, and chairs the Bourdex Group; he wrote an account of it, The Making of Bourdex Telecom. He holds the Abiriba chieftaincy title Ugo Ena and is styled MFR, OON. A PDP chieftain and Abia North senate aspirant in 2013-14, he moved to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and was its Abia North candidate on 28 March 2015, placing second in the announced result. He petitioned against the declared winner, Mao Ohuabunwa (PDP); the tribunal upheld Ohuabunwa, but the Court of Appeal, Owerri nullified the election on Orji Uzor Kalu's appeal in late 2015. In the rerun of 5 March 2016 he came third with 13,633 votes, rejected the result and chose not to go to court. A member of APGA's Board of Trustees, he was reported among new APC members in September 2017, was back as APGA's candidate in 2019 and came third again on 23 February 2019 (11,410 votes) as Kalu won the seat. He served on Governor-elect Alex Otti's transition council in 2023, and Otti appointed him chairman ("mayor") of the Ohafia LGA Transition Committee, sworn in on 30 November 2023 and serving until elected council chairmen took office on 4 November 2024. He became the LP's consensus candidate for Abia North at the party's primary of 30 May 2026 and is campaigning against the incumbent, Orji Uzor Kalu (APC).
