Mbakwe Helen I. (Helen Mbakwe) is the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Senate election of 16 January 2027 (INEC final list, 12 September 2026). INEC lists her as a 58-year-old woman whose declared qualifications are the First School Leaving Certificate, WAEC, LLB and LLM. A banker-turned-lawyer, she first ran for the same seat as the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate. At the election of 25 February 2023 she polled 2,465 votes; Victor Umeh of the Labour Party won with 103,608. She rejected the result, saying the NNPP logo was blurred on the ballot papers, and petitioned the election tribunal in Awka against Umeh's return; the outcome of her petition was not found. When she moved from the NNPP to the ZLP, and details of her 2026 ZLP primary, were not found in public sources as of October 2026.

Record notes
NNPP candidate. Umeh (LP) was declared winner with 103,608 votes. On 3 and 6 March 2023 she rejected the result, saying INEC printed the NNPP logo blurred on the ballot, and with APGA's Dozie Nwankwo she petitioned the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Awka against Umeh's return (petition reported 25 March 2023; still before the tribunal in June 2023). The outcome of her petition was not found. Identity link to the 2027 ZLP candidate is by name, district, gender and legal profession (medium confidence).
