The places, education and experiences behind this candidate.

Chibuogwu Maryanne Benson-Oraelosi (INEC: BENSON-ORAELOSI CHIBUOGWU MARYANNE), styled Chief Mrs, is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Anambra South Senatorial District in the Senate election of 16 January 2027 (INEC final list, 12 September 2026). INEC lists her as a 53-year-old woman whose declared qualifications are the First School Leaving Certificate, the WAEC senior school certificate and a BSc. Before joining the APC she was active in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In February 2019 she went to court claiming she had won the PDP primary for Ihiala Federal Constituency and challenging the party's submission of another name to INEC; on 13 February 2019 a High Court in Abuja ordered INEC not to publish any PDP candidate's name for the seat pending the suit against Emeka Anohu and others (Daily Post). The final outcome of the suit was not found. At the PDP national convention of 30-31 October 2021 she was one of three candidates for National Auditor and withdrew from the podium while voting was in progress (Punch). On 27 May 2022 she spoke in Abuja as convener of a stakeholders' group urging parties to zone the 2023 presidency to the South-East (Daily Post). By April 2025 she was in the APC, named on 15 April 2025 to the party's Anambra South reconciliation committee ahead of the November 2025 governorship election (Leadership). On 12 June 2026 the Anambra APC announced her as its Anambra South senatorial candidate from its 2026 primaries (Daily Post); the primary date and vote figures were not found.
