Bestman Eruba, popularly known as "Ogele Obingwa", is the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for Abia South Senatorial District in the Senate election of 16 January 2027 (INEC final list, 12 September 2026). INEC lists him as a 38-year-old man whose declared qualifications are the First School Leaving Certificate, the Senior School Certificate, a BSc and an MSc "in view" (in progress). His emergence as the YPP candidate after the party's senatorial primary was reported on 5 June 2026; the primary's date, votes and opponents were not published. Before his candidacy he was the spokesman of the YPP in Abia State: as the party's Publicity Secretary he signed its May 2023 statement boycotting the Abia local government elections, which it called unbacked by law, and its December 2023 statement denying that the Abia YPP had collapsed into the Labour Party. In May 2025, described as a YPP chieftain, he said the party would offer Governor Alex Otti its 2027 governorship ticket if the Labour Party's crisis persisted.
