The places, education and experiences behind the people on this ticket.

Umo Bassey Eno (born 24 April 1964) is the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, in office since 29 May 2023, and the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026), with Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi again as running mate. He won the APC primary on 21 May 2026 as the sole aspirant with 392,653 affirmation votes. He was elected on the PDP and moved to the APC on 6 June 2025. He grew up in the police barracks at Ikeja, Lagos, where his father served, and began work at Union Bank in 1982, moving to Bertola Machine Tools (1985-1990) and Norman Holdings (1990-1997) before founding Royalty Hotels and Recreations Limited in Eket in 1997, which grew into the Royalty Group. He chaired the Akwa Ibom Hotels and Tourism Board (2004-2007), was executive director for agricultural investment at the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (in post by 2020), and is the founder-pastor of All Nations Christian Ministry International. He studied public administration at the University of Uyo (BSc, Master's) and defended a doctoral thesis there in October 2024. Governor Udom Emmanuel swore him in as Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources on 4 January 2021 and presented him as his preferred successor on 30 January 2022; he left the cabinet in March 2022 and won the PDP governorship primary on 25 May 2022 with 993 of 1,018 delegate votes. His candidacy was challenged in court: a fellow aspirant's certificate-forgery suit was dismissed (Federal High Court, Uyo, 11 November 2022; Court of Appeal, 19 January 2023); a Wuse magistrate's arrest warrant and reported conviction in a private cheating complaint were set aside on 11 January 2023; and a Federal High Court judgment of 20 January 2023 that put Rep. Michael Enyong in his place was reversed by the Court of Appeal on 21 February 2023. He won the 18 March 2023 election with 354,348 votes (55%) and was sworn in on 29 May 2023. Six petitions against his return were dismissed by the tribunal (28-29 September 2023), the Court of Appeal (November 2023) and the Supreme Court (11 January 2024). He was named Governor of the Year by LEADERSHIP, THISDAY (2024) and the Nigerian Governors' Forum (2025). His wife, Patience Umo Eno, died on 26 September 2024; they had six children.
