Before the ballot,
a life in the making.

The places, education and experiences behind the people on this ticket.

Hussaini Sulaiman Tahir is the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026), with Calvin Yusuf Pelene as his running mate. INEC lists him as a 71-year-old man whose declared qualifications are the First School Leaving Certificate, the Senior School Certificate and a B.Eng. A supporter-written profile in TGNews (October 2022) describes a mechanical engineer who graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, worked in engineering and education posts in the Gongola and Adamawa State governments from 1978, then joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in September 1991, became Group General Manager of its Renewable Energy Division in November 2012 and retired in 2015. It adds that he is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, holds the title Santuraki Adamawa from the Lamido of Adamawa, and had briefly been in the PDP. These career details rest on that one partisan piece and are not independently confirmed. He was the Action Alliance (AA) candidate for governor in 2023: INEC's October 2022 list names him as Tahir Hussaini, aged 67, with Philip Andrew as running mate, and TGNews reported him addressing AA supporters in Yola on 19 January 2023. In the state collation of 20 March 2023, before the 15 April supplementary poll, AA had 641 votes; Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP won. When he moved to the AAC, and how he won its 2026 ticket, were not found in public sources as of October 2026.
