The places, education and experiences behind the people on this ticket.

Kelechi Anosike (INEC: ANOSIKE KELECHI) is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia State for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026), with Abraham Amah, the state party chairman, as his running mate. INEC lists him as 52, with a First School Leaving Certificate, SSCE, LL.B (Hons), LLM, PhD and Barrister-at-Law (B.L.). A lawyer who describes himself as an international commercial solicitor in energy, oil and gas, he says he studied law at Abia State University, took an LLM in petroleum law and policy in Scotland and a PhD in property law and mortgages at the University of Abuja, and is managing director of the real estate firm Smart Homes (his own account, BusinessDay, 15 May 2026). He says he has been a PDP member since 2005. By his own account he sought the party's Ikwuano/Umuahia House of Representatives ticket in 2011 without getting it, stood for Deputy National Financial Secretary at the national convention in Enugu (2007/2008), chaired a screening committee to Plateau State in 2006 and sat on presidential committees under President Yar'Adua; none of these was corroborated elsewhere (Vanguard, 26 May 2026; ThisDay, 6 June 2026). He has also written a biography of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. On Sunday 24 May 2026 he won the PDP governorship primary in Abia with 16,543 votes against John Okiyi Kalu (3,145) and Olugu Kalu Ugba (961), the result announced by state chairman Abraham Amah (Daily Post). Okiyi Kalu afterwards said he had been betrayed and the primary was not credible; Amah replied that Okiyi Kalu had not told the party's key officers he was running (Daily Post, 30 May 2026). His ticket is on the PDP faction aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. He presented Amah as his running mate at a party stakeholders' meeting in Umuahia reported on 2 August 2026, and campaigns on a welfare agenda that includes a N90,000 minimum wage for state workers. No court case involving him was found.
