Peter Ndubuisi Mbah (born 17 March 1972) is the Governor of Enugu State, in office since 29 May 2023, and the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026), with Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai again as running mate. He was elected on the PDP and moved to the APC on 14 October 2025; the APC declared him its sole candidate after a primary on 21 May 2026. A lawyer and oil-and-gas businessman from Owo in Nkanu East, he studied law at the University of East London (LLB, 2000), was called to the Nigerian Bar and took a master's degree in maritime and commercial law at Lagos State University (2004). He founded Pinnacle Oil and Gas, which began operations in 2008. In public service he was Chief of Staff to Governor Chimaroke Nnamani from 2003 and later Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development; one newspaper profile dates the two roles to 2003-2007. Mbah won the PDP governorship primary on 25 May 2022 (790 votes) and the general election of 18 March 2023 with 160,895 votes against 157,552 for the Labour Party's Chijioke Edeoga. Petitions by the LP, the APC and the PRP failed: the Enugu tribunal dismissed them (20 June and 21 September 2023), and the Court of Appeal (10 November 2023) and the Supreme Court (22 December 2023) upheld his election. The LP case rested largely on his NYSC discharge certificate, which the NYSC said in February 2023 it had not issued; on 6 November 2023 the Federal High Court in Abuja held the certificate authentic and awarded N5 million against the NYSC, and the tribunal held that an NYSC certificate is not a qualification for the office. An EFCC charge against his former principal Nnamani (FHC/L/09C/2007) named him among the accused; he says his name was struck out before trial and that he never entered a plea bargain or was convicted (his account; no court record seen). The Sun named him its Man of the Year for 2025 at a ceremony on 31 January 2026.
