Ahmed Wadada Aliyu (INEC prints ALIYU AHMED WADADA) is the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State for the election of 6 February 2027 (INEC final list, 10 October 2026), with Michael Emmanuel Ombugadu as his running mate, and the sitting senator for Nasarawa West. Born on 15 October 1964 in Keffi, he studied business administration at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa (ND 1987, HND 1993) and, per his National Assembly profile, worked at United Bank for Africa, Benue Cement and Kano Tobacco distribution before serving as administrative manager and personal assistant to the chairman of the Vision Group (1997-2002). He won the Keffi/Karu/Kokona seat in the House of Representatives on the PDP ticket in 2003, defeating the incumbent, and was re-elected in 2007; Daily Trust says he was first chairman of the House Committee on Capital Market and Institutions. He lost the seat in 2011 and his tribunal petition failed; he later served as senior special assistant to the FCT minister, lost the 2015 Nasarawa West Senate race on the PDP ticket (88,214 votes to Abdullahi Adamu's 92,804) and withdrew a petition against it. He joined the APC on 12 December 2016 and came second in the APC's 2018 governorship primary (517 votes to Abdullahi Sule's 926). In June 2022 he withdrew from the APC Nasarawa West senatorial primary, alleging that the delegates list had been altered, left the APC (letter dated 1 June 2022) and joined the SDP on 13 June 2022. He won the Senate seat on 25 February 2023 with 96,488 votes (about 42 percent of valid votes), took his seat on 13 June 2023 (the start of the 10th Assembly), and chaired the Senate Committee on Public Accounts from July 2023 until he was replaced in late April 2026. He resigned from the SDP in August 2025 and notified his APC ward of his return by letter dated 2 September 2025; the Senate was formally told on 22 April 2026. The SDP says it never received a resignation letter, and an APC member, Tari Trochon, filed a Federal High Court suit on 8 May 2026 over alleged dual membership (no outcome found). Governor Sule, who is term-limited, endorsed him on 16 April 2026; he won the APC's direct primary on 22 May 2026 with 195,285 votes against 39,675 for former police chief Mohammed Adamu. He holds the traditional titles Magajin Dangin Lafia Bare-Bari (conferred 2 August 2025) and Sarkin Yakin Keffi.
