On 17 April 2024, after EFCC operatives laid siege to Bello's Abuja residence, Bello reportedly slipped away in Ododo's convoy. On 18 September 2024, Bello appeared at EFCC headquarters in company with Ododo but left without being taken into custody; that night EFCC operatives surrounded the Kogi State Government Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, and after a confrontation Bello again reportedly escaped in Ododo's convoy. No formal charge has been filed against Ododo as of retrieval; the allegation is disputed by the Kogi State Government.
